The Vipers 17U and 18U teams completed their seasons on Sunday with strong finishes at the 2021 Ohio Valley Region Championships in Columbus.
The 17U Vipers finished tied for third with a 1-3 record and the 18U Vipers were sixth with a 1-3 mark.
Our 17U squad opened the day with a 25-17, 25-16 sweep of Kids America then closed out preliminary pool play with a 21-25, 25-18, 14-16 three-set loss to Club Gold South.
By virtue of their second-place finish in pool play, the Vipers 17U squad advanced Aluminum 1 pool for placement. The Vipers lost to both Dayton Juniors (2-0) and Four1Nine (2-1) to place tied for third overall in the 17 Regional Aluminum bracket.
The 18U Vipers split their preliminary pool matches and then dropped both games in the placement round.
Dayton Junior beat the Vipers in the first round, 2-0, and then the Vipers bounced back with a 2-1 win over Positively Charged 18 Blue, 21-25, 25-20, 15-7.
CEV 18 Diamond opened placement pool matches with a 2-0 win over the Vipers and then OVVA Green downed the Vipers in three sets, 21-25, 26-24, 15-10.
The Vipers showed great improvement throughout the season and competed hard in Columbus. Great job Vipers!
